Fibre Arts, ColourOverview
Judith Tinkl is a practising fibre artist and co-proprieter of Tinkl's Gallery, which participates annually in the Uxbridge Celebration of the Arts studio tour, each September. She has been a faculty member at the Ontario College of Art & Design since 1990. Previous to this, she was a faculty member in the textiles program at Sheridan College's, School for Crafts & Design.
"What motivates me is a fascination with the phenomena of light and colour, illusions of light which come from the juxtaposition of colours. Inspiration also comes from nature, geometry, geometric puzzles, natural structures and systems, phenomena of colour, and of course, historical and traditional textiles. Like a true child of the sixties, I feel most comfortable with non-objective abstract visual ideas."
