Location

North Seattle Community College, Seattle, WA, USA.

Contemporary Fibres is an exhibition created to bring focus to artists whose work disrupts the protected and traditional silos of media, centring on this versatile medium of fibre. Some of the artists in this show are fibre artists whose work pushes into photography, performance or drawing, while others strike out from painting, sculpture, or jewelry to explore the fibre realm. All of the explorations seen in this show can be placed along the moving spectrum of craft and concept. Whether the influence of the craft of fibre on other media, the tangible outcome of loss, the document of injustice, or the re-contextualization of the modernist grid the nine artists in this show bring a unique and cross-disciplinary voice to the art of fibres.

Opening: 1-3pm and 5-7pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.

The show will run from November 21, 2017 – January 19, 2018.

Participating artists include: Indira Allegra, Wyly Astley, Raissa Bump, Michelle Forsyth, Mandy Greer, Emma Jane Levitt, Meg Lipke, Brooke Marks-Swanson, and Zipporah Camille Thompson.
