Renovations of the George Reid House began last week. The first phase involves work on Level 2 to provide two multi-purpose rooms, as well as a universal washroom, storage and display. The next phase (winter 2018) will involve renovations of the Foundry and Mouldmaking studios, in addition to the circulation space.

On October 10, an event took place to announce $1M of funding from the federal government through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. Thanks to all who attended the event!

Renovations of the Rosalie Sharp Pavilion (115 McCaul St.) are underway. The Centre for Experiential Learning is scheduled to open Fall of 2018.

Consultation and schematic design is underway for the Fabrication Studios on Level 1 of 100 McCaul St. More information regarding design and construction phasing will be shared as soon as possible. Stay tuned!

Regarding the expansion, the architects are continuing to refine a site strategy that responds to feedback from City Planning and various stakeholder groups including the external community.

As mentioned at the Town Hall on October 4, the main issues that are being discussed, as they relate to strategy presented last spring are:

  1. The heritage value of the houses at 74-76 McCaul St.
  2. Views from Butterfield Park of the Sharp Centre and Grange Park

The project team is exploring all options and approaches to deliver a project with maximum benefit and value for OCAD U. We will provide an update and notification for upcoming consultation as soon as more information is available.
