Creating Inclusive Spaces Exhibition

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

DEADLINE: April 15, 2019

Mackenzie Investments and the Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers are excited to announce the creation of a one-year exhibition Career Launcher for graduating students from the Faculty of Art. The theme of this exhibition is Creating Inclusive Spaces.

From May 2019 to May 2020, the selected works will be prominently exhibited inside the Mackenzie Investments’ lobby located at 180 Simcoe Street in Toronto. 

Artists will receive $500 per selected work, to be on temporary loan for the exhibition for one year.

A jury of representatives from Mackenzie Investments, the CEAD, and the Faculty of Art will finalize a selection of works for the exhibition.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be graduating from the Faculty of Art in 2019.
  • Must be participating in OCAD University’s GradEx 104, May 2 - 5, 2019.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Full contact information (Name, phone, and email), and a confirmation of eligibility.
  • Up to date artist’s CV and bio.
  •  A current artist’s statement.
  • Maximum 10 support images in jpeg following naming format:01_Title_LastName.jpeg
  • An image list including: artist name, title, year, medium, size/duration (for media work).

Legal Intersections | Copyright & Fair Dealing

Legal Intersections is a four-part series addressing legal issues of importance to artists, designers, and cultural workers. The series is presented in collaboration with the Artists’ Legal Advice Services, the Centre for Emerging Artists and Designers at OCAD University, and the Edward P. Taylor Library & Archives at the Art Gallery of Ontario.ALAS will be collecting PWYC donations (with a suggestion of $10) to support their free services to the arts community.

This year, Photgraphy students are offered the opportunity to participate in a group exhibition in the Hallway Galleries of Artscape Youngplace. One of the finalists will be offered a solo exhibition during CONTACT Festival 2020. A CRCP student will be selected to join the jury and contribute an exhibition essay to the solo exhibition.

Topics covered include HST, RRSP’s vs TFSA, self-employment deductible expenses, filing deadlines and CRA audits.

Graduating students and recent graduates are invited to apply for this paid internship, and one successful applicant will work with the team of human factors professionals, designers, engineers, psychologists, and researchers, uniquely integrated into healthcare. Healthcare Human Factors is provided with unparalleled insights and access to the clinicians and patients for whom they design, test, and create for.

Healthcare Human Factors is the largest Human Factors team dedicated to healthcare internationally. Acting as consultants, researchers, designers and evaluators, we are setting standards and developing best practices for human factors in healthcare, leading cultural change and making an impact locally and worldwide

This opportunity was tailor-made to support the emerging design career of an OCAD U student who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of patients and healthcare providers. RATE: $17.5 - $20/hour for 35 hours/week

TERM: Full-time, 4 - 12 months starting Summer 2019

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design a variety of engaging marketing artifacts, internal collateral, and client deliverables
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to identify and seize design opportunities to improve our brand and visual communications strategies
  • Design a wide range of digital and print collateral—including graphics, event materials, presentations, video assets, and more—from concept to production
  • Develop templates that give other team members the independence to quickly and smoothly produce great looking work
  • Proactively seek out feedback and strive for constant improvement
  • Shoot and edit photos and video for our projects, website, and social media
  • Bonus: Record and edit audio for a podcast

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have strong knowledge of visual design fundamentalsMust have a solid portfolio demonstrating your creative accomplishments and design process.
  • Must have an ability to clearly communicate your insights and back-up your design ideas. 
  • Must have a passion for details, but also an ability to zoom out to see the big picture.
