Project 31: Stunning artworks up for auction in support of student scholarships and opportunities

Tuesday, March 5, 2013 - 5:30pm

Project 31 fundraiser features works by OCAD University faculty Barbara Astman, Ian Carr-Harris, Cathy Daley, Gary Taxali, John Scott and many others

(Toronto—March 5, 2013) An unparalleled collection of highly collectable artworks by OCAD University’s award-winning faculty and invited guests is up for auction later this month at Project 31, an annual live auction in support of student scholarships and opportunities. The auction takes place on Wednesday, March 27 with the artwork preview beginning at 6 p.m.

Featuring stunning paintings, photography, limited edition prints, sculpture, textiles and fibre, illustration, jewellery and digital media, Project 31 pairs the support of donating faculty members with specific areas of need at the university, such as program-specific scholarships, awards or bursaries for students, the university’s library and Learning Zone, the Florence Off-Campus Studies Program, additional hours with live models, or investments of new equipment for specific programs. Faculty members choose which area of need they wish to support through the sale of their donated work.

Budding and established art collectors alike can expect to score great buys, with works selling very affordably, starting around a few hundred dollars. Through the auction, patrons are able to access work by OCAD U’s award-winning faculty members — a pool of creative talent found nowhere else in Canada — while enriching the learning experience for the next generation of artists and designers.

Artworks available by:
Sandra Altwerger, Barbara Astman, Philippe Blanchard, Ian Carr-Harris, Jack Cassady, David Clarkson, Cathy Daley, Judith Doyle, Eva Ennist, Spencer J. Harrison, April Hickox, Daniel P. Izzard; Jesse Colin Jackson & Tori Foster, Mark Jaroszewicz, Simone Jones, Chung-Im Kim, Anda Kubis, JJ Lee, Ginette Legaré, Jennifer Long, Hugh Martin, Robert K.E. Art with Heart Auction

Art with Heart Auction
Tuesday, October 8, 2013 - 4:00am

The 20th Annual Art With Heart Auction, a fundraiser for Casey House with work by OCAD U faculty and alumni

Over the course of 20 years, Art with Heart has grown into Casey House’s most significant single source of non-government funding for our community programs that include home nursing care, outreach clinics and other health care supports for people living with advanced HIV/AIDS.

Twenty-five years ago, people living with HIV/AIDS were commonly cut off from their communities of support, from friends and loved ones, because of stigma and ill-informed fear. From the start, Casey House was different.

When the first resident was brought to Casey House in March 1988, our receptionist marched past the ambulance attendants in their protective gear, reached down to the man on the stretcher, and welcomed him with an embrace. “Welcome to Casey House,” she famously said. “I think you’re going to like it here.”

And so began the story of Casey House – a story of love and compassion, of a community bringing hope and healing into the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS.

It’s a story that continues today, thanks to you. Thank you for your love and support. Please bid generously.
