Though born in Canada, Jacqui Oakley spent her formative years in Bahrain, Zambia, England & Libya. In 1989, she returned to Canada where she graduated from the illustration program at Sheridan College's School of Art & Design. She now works as a freelance illustrator & artist. Jacqui's paintings have been exhibited in Toronto, L.A., San Francisco, Philadelphia, San Diego & Shanghai.

Rejection letters in an artist's life are a symbol of the complicated relationship post-industrial capitalism has with art. The complication results in a clash of two fundamental concepts with the Western world: the notion of individuality and freedom of expression versus the market and its ability to determine value.
