In this ongoing research, we aim to enhance training of surgical residents and support ongoing performance development of surgical teams through the development of practical training tools using a serious games approach. This work will complement the Surgical Performance team at St Michael’s hospital, Toronto and OR BlackBox. We will refine translations of theoretical models of resiliency to develop high fidelity serious games.  Enhancing and testing a three level serious game for developing resiliency behaviors among surgical teams.  We will continue to refine existing prototypes for offline physical games and integrate these with existing OR BlackBox and SST software tools for surgical performance.

Angelika Seeschaaf-Veres

Angelika Seeschaaf-Veres is an Industrial Designer, researcher and educator and Associate Professor & Chair of Industrial Design at OCAD University. She is in charge of curriculum development, critical and  inclusive approaches in design pedagogy and facilitates cross disciplinary teaching and learning within the university and outside industry partners, non-for-profit organizations and research institution. 

New Ebook Collection: Morgan & Claypool Biomedical Collection Four

The Library has recently purchased a collection of biomedical ebooks from publisher Morgan & Claypool.  The titles are part of the publisher’s Synthesis series and cover a range of biomedical engineering and design topics such as assistive technologies, human factors in computing systems, and body tracking in healthcare. Titles in this series are peer reviewed and intended to synthesize important research or development topics.
