Please be advised that an information session on SSHRC and OGS awards is scheduled for Monday, October 7, 3:00 – 4:30 pm in room 7401, 4th floor of 205 Richmond Street West.

You are encouraged to attend and if eligible, to apply for these funding opportunities and are going into your second year of your graduate program or considering applying to Graduate Studies at OCAD U for 2014.

• Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)
The Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships Program of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) seeks to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students in the social sciences and humanities who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies. These scholarships are valued at $17,500 over 12 months (non-renewable) and are open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents only.

OCAD U has a limited allocation of applications that we may submit to SSHRC. Details will be provided at the information session, including application deadlines.

• Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS)
The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program encourages excellence in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels. The scholarship is valued at $5,000 per academic term for either two or three consecutive terms.
OCAD U has a limited allocation of applications that we may submit to OGS – one of which may be allocated to an international student.

Flexible delivery
The MDes in Inclusive Design is an online-based program, also offering on-site/real-time learning experiences for those so inclined. Are you working full-time? Our flexible delivery allows you to maintain your work while gaining a professional degree at the same time.

Blended delivery format offers online and on-site experiences.
Lectures are recorded for students to listen to on their own time.
2 week summer intensives lay the foundation for the program each year. For 2 weeks every summer students network with guest speakers, formulate major research topics, and forge collaborative working groups for the years ahead.
Major Research Project can build upon professional work.
We are currently accepting applications for 2014. The application deadline for the summer 2014 start date is January 13, 2014.

A new study abroad course offered by the Office of Continuing Studies at OCAD University and George Brown College

ITALIANISMO 2014
Monday, May 5, 2014 – Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Italianismo is a new study abroad course offered by the Faculty of Arts and Design at George Brown College and the Office of Continuing Studies at OCAD University. This course introduces students to the art, design, architecture, history, fashion, and cuisine of Italy. The course takes place in Rome, Florence, and Venice. Some highlights include visiting the Colosseum and the Duomo, taking a day trip to the ancient port city of Ostia Antica, and a cycling tour of Tuscany. Students will research different areas then participate as tour guides for the group during on-site visits. Students will develop their own creative projects at the OCAD U Florence Studio amidst a backdrop of architectural and artistic treasures from the Italian Renaissance. Before the trip there is one week of basic Italian language instruction and an orientation about life in Italy. To conclude the course, students participate in an exhibition of Italianismo inspired work at the School of Design Gallery, George Brown College.

Total cost including travel is $5,400.

A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is required by December 6, 2013.
