Featuring New Collections from Jewellery and Fibre Students, the Material Art & Design program presents a selection of handmade gifts, perfect for the Holidays Season!
Saturday, November 15, 2008 - 5:00am to Sunday, January 4, 2009 - 5:00am
York Quay Centre in Toronto presents an exhibition of work by Harbourfront Centre's Jewellery Studio artists-in-residence: Marina Babic, Patrycja Zwierzynska and OCAD alumni Suzanne Carlsen, Annie Tung and Margaret Lim. The artist-in-residency programme celebrates and advocates diverse approaches to making. Conceptual concerns may differ but cohesion is achieved by virtue of these variances and the use of the body as site. Traditional and non-traditional materials are used, scale is challenged and ideas about a jeweller’s role in society are explored.

York Quay Centre 235 Queens Quay West, Toronto, Ontario
Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - 5:00am to Monday, November 17, 2008 - 5:00am

From the jewellerybusiness.com website:
"Sponsored by CJExpos and Beverly Hills Jewellers, the competition—which carries the theme, ‘An Evening in Paris’—asks students to design a piece with an estimated retail value of $1500. Now in its third year, the scholarship bestows a $3000 grant on a student enrolled in a Canadian college offering a jewellery program, while the school itself receives a $1000 gift. The pieces will be on display at CJExpo’s Toronto and Edmonton shows, where attendees can vote for the winner."
