Design Wo/ManiFesT.O. creating new ideas for Toronto

Design Wo/ManiFesT.O.
Thursday, January 24, 2019 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm

What futuristic design plans were formulated for Toronto? Have any achieved their goals as intended? What is an appropriate design vision for an evolving, diverse city, one with a complex history, and a myriad of growing urban challenges as well as opportunities? How can we engage citizens, including creative practitioners, politicians, community advocates in a participatory, collective exercise to (re)imagine Toronto through design? These are some of the questions that Design Wo/ManiFesT.O. aims to explore as we use our pending ‘2020 hindsight’ for advancing a world leading, dynamic city of tomorrow.

You are invited to the kick-off of Design Wo/ManiFesT.O. — a research project that is looking at how design and creative practice has served and supported the process of city-making in Toronto through major changes in the past and where it can lead us in the next wave of social, demographic, and technological change. This research project will be taking place over a 2-year space and we hope that your input will be included in.

The event will take place on January 24, 2019 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the Open Space Gallery in 49 McCaul Street (a key research space on the OCAD University campus). This event is part of the annual Toronto Design Offsite festival (TODO) 2019.
