Congratulations to Chung-Im Kim, Associate Professor in Fibre and the students in Surface Design 1 on their recent collaborative textile banner project with The Link, a community centre in Sutton, Ontario which has resulted in 11 of the banners being purchased by the centre!
The project brought together Fibre students and Sutton’s community to identify appropriate wayfinding locations at The Link and collaborate on the design development of textile banners.
Through a brainstorming session, students learned the history and geography of the area, the importance of The Link, the services it provides, how it should feel and even its previous life as a school as source inspiration for the design of the banners which they them created.
After an exhibition, 11 of the students' banners were chosen as winners by the public and purchased by the The Link for their permanent collection.
The winners were: Madeline Bonk, Brittney De Lattibeaudiere, Lyndsay Grover, Ofra Hauferman, Jaclyn Martyn, Angela McIntosh, Nan Sun, and Xing Yu. The project was developed and facilitated by Chung-Im Kim, Associate Professor in Fibre.
