Ignite Gallery
Ignite Gallery represents the current creative voice of OCAD University students and recent graduates through exhibitions, events and community programs.  Ignite Gallery (formerly the OCAD U Student Gallery) continues its 40+ year history of support for the exciting work of emerging artists, designers and curators from OCAD University.   Located in Kensington Market, Ignite Gallery is currently recruiting IWSP-eligible Student Monitors for the Fall/Winter term to serve as front-line staff welcoming and informing visitors about exhibitions and public events, to supervise the gallery, and help with install and de-install of shows.  
Mary Pratt
Acclaimed artist Mary Pratt passed away at the age of 83 in St. John’s Newfoundland. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick in 1935, Pratt was one of Canada's most important and popular realist painters, known for her luminous canvases that captured people and objects from everyday life.

For the second year in a row, OCAD University students enrolled in the course Painting in the Expanded Field were given a unique opportunity to develop a Wallwork design for the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Mississauga-based office. 
OCAD University mourns the loss of Maxime Voisard Ducharme, who passed away at the age of 87 on Sunday, June 3, 2018. Ducharme was born in Sudbury in 1931 and moved to Toronto to pursue his love of design. He graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1958, earning an Eaton design scholarship.

Toronto City Council approved the installation of traffic control signals at the intersection of Queen and McCaul Streets, which will represent a huge improvement of safe pedestrian crossing between the north and south campuses for the OCAD U community.

On Thursday, July 26, the ROM and OCAD U presented their joint web-based project Uncover/Recover. This collaboration began last year, when students in the Indigenous Visual Culture program (INVC), led by Professor Bonnie Devine, received an opportunity to interact with, and respond to, Indigenous artifacts from the ROM’s archives.

Josi Smit, a recent graduate of the Sculpture/Installation program, was named the Ontario winner of BMO’s 1st Art! Invitational Student Art Competition. She is among 12 regional winners and one national winner selected from 267 entries.

Some two-dozen students have made it to the semis of the Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA)! OCAD U is always well represented in this international competition for creative students of all disciplines. Categories include illustration, photography, package design and 11 more.
