OCAD U students and alumni shine at Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

OCAD University students and alumni participated as exhibiting artists in the 2017 Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition (TOAE). Among them, eleven graduates were featured as part of the first annual TOAE Career Launcher initiative. Through the Centre For Emerging Artists & Designers’ Career Launchers program, recent graduates from OCAD U’s Illustration and Material Art & Design programs received complimentary booths and the opportunity to exhibit in the 56th year of this annual event. The exhibition is Canada's largest and longest running juried contemporary outdoor art fair.

OCAD University students and recipients of the Career Launcher initiative were also acknowledged for demonstrating excellence, originality, workmanship and innovation in their practice through the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition’s Awards program.

This year’s OCAD University community award winners included:

  • Cindy Lee (BDes, Illustration, 2017): Honourable Mention - Student: $500 Gift Certificate by Toronto School of Art
  • Dalbert Vilarino (BDes, Illustration, 2017): Honourable Mention - Student: $250 Gift Certificate & $350 Value Gift Bag by Above Ground Art Supplies
  • Andrew Watch & Kendra Yee (BDes, Illustration, 2017): Student Purchase Award - Value of Artwork by House of i.d.e.a
  • Andrew Watch, Kendra Yee, Dalbert Vilarino & Cristine Yunyk (BFA Candidate, Drawing & Painting): Emerging Artists by Emerging Curator Award - Exhibition at Propeller Gallery ($3,000 value)
  • Elizabete Ludviks: Best of Jewellery - $500 by Harry Enchin and Susan Friedrich
