OCAD University mourns death of Jeremy Vincent Urbina, student in the Faculty of Art

OCAD University has learned that the victim of a tragic shooting in North York Wednesday night was Jeremy Vincent Urbina, an Integrated Media student in our Faculty of Art. He was 22 years old.

“I am shocked and deeply saddened by this devastating news,” said Caroline Langill, Acting President. “Our hearts go out to our student’s family and friends.”

His family told CTV News Jeremy had been studying for an exam earlier in the evening, and decided to go to the supermarket across the street to get some food for he and his mother. His family are struggling to understand why anyone would want to harm him.

Students looking for support in the wake of this news should visit the Student Wellness Centre at 230 Richmond St. W. 6th floor.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in honour of Jeremy on December 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East.
