Presidential Review Process update from the OCAD University Board of Governors

The following memo was issued to the OCAD U community on Monday, April 28 from Ian C. Tudhope, Chair, Board of Governors, OCAD University:

The Presidential Review Committee has met twice since its creation and is now deeply engaged in the review process. The committee has met with President Sara Diamond and is currently reviewing the results of the online feedback from staff, faculty and students. 

The online performance feedback process has now been extended to May 4, 2014 to enable more staff, faculty and students to participate, with the objective of making this process as inclusive and engaging as possible. As well, the Presidential Review Committee has added internal interviews from a cross-representation of the university to broaden the review process.

If you have not already done so, I encourage you to fill out the online performance feedback form delivered via email to comment on Dr. Diamond’s presidency to date and to reflect on the university’s leadership needs for the future. Your participation is vital to this review and the members of the Presidential Review Committee process will hold all replies and information that it collects through this online feedback form in strict confidence.

OCAD Grads Receive Awards at 2019 Toronto Outdoor Art Fair
Congratulations to Eugenia Chan (Material Art & Design 2018) and Elise Conlin (Illustration 2019) who were presented with awards at the recent 2019 Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF). 
We are delighted to inform you that recent grads from OCADU’s ILLU and MAAD programs and were among the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair Award Winners announced at the event this past Friday. Both Elise and Eugenia were recipients of the OCAD U TOAF Career Launcher opportunity (along with 8 additional ILLU and MAAD grads), coordinated by the CEAD.
The OCAD University community is deeply saddened by the recent passing of alumna (1998, Criticism & Curatorial Practice) and artist/curator Katharine Mulherin.

Hiii Illustration 2018 International Competition is open to all illustrators, creative professionals, publishers, agencies, representatives, students and teachers from all over the world.  Any illustration works, first created or published from 2015 through 2018 were eligible for this competition.

Onsite Gallery, OCAD University is happy to offer a free interactive guide for families and young visitors to creatively engage with our current contemporary art exhibition, T.M. Glass: The Audible Language of Flowers.
On Wednesday, June 26, OCAD University welcomed the Honourable Peter Bethlenfalvy, MPP, Pickering-Uxbridge and president of Ontario's Treasury Board. Minister Bethlenfalvy met with OCAD U President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sara Diamond and Jaime Watt, Chair of the OCAD U Board of Governors.

Today, Rideau Hall announced 83 new appointments to the Order of Canada. Among them is OCAD University President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Sara Diamond. From the accompanying citation, “President Diamond has contributed immensely to the country’s arts, cultural and digital industry landscape. An accomplished and prolific artist, researcher and administrator, her revolutionary work bridges the fields of art, design, science and technology, notably in her current role as President and Vice-Chancellor of OCAD University (OCAD U), and previously at The Banff Centre. Under her visionary direction, she has positioned OCAD U as an eminent leader, one that champions innovative teaching and research, and fosters opportunities for Indigenous education and collaborative partnerships.”

OCAD University's President Dr. Sara Diamond participated as a guest speaker at the Canada Future Forward Summit on a panel titled, The Education Equation: How should Canada's education system evolve for the future? Organized by The Globe and Mail, in partnership with McKinsey and CIGI, the two-day forum brought together some of the nation’s leading thinkers to discuss Canada's future.
