OCAD U student Matt Doyle has put his design talent to work by designing logos based on characters from Star Wars.
“After seeing the new Star Wars film, I was inspired by the amazing new costume art Disney had created for the characters. Simply, my goal was to portray these new characters in a style that would resonate with sports, and subtly connect two completely different worlds together through nothing more than a stylized illustration,” says Matt.
The OCADU Illustration Podcast (our working title) is a joint initiative of OCADU Illustration instructors Lauchie Reid and Christina Sealey. Through studio visits and free-form conversations with faculty members and alumni of the university’s program, the podcast aims to illuminate and familiarize our listeners with the ins and outs of the illustration industry, the realities and challenges of studio and professional practices, and a more casual insight into best practices and the personalities of some of Canada’s best illustrators.
For our second episode, we join Assistant Professor Jon Todd and thesis instructor Shea Chang in their studio.
Graphic Design student Aqil Raharjo’s under-desk hammock has gone totally viral. You’ve probably seen it, but today it’s multiplying like rabbits. If you Google schnap and hit “news” you’ll get dozens of mentions.
