Anson Liaw is an illustrator based in Toronto, Canada. Upon graduating from the Ontario College of Art from the Communication & Design Department Design Advertising Program in 1989, his versatile illustrations have been an integral part of many projects ranging from magazines, book publications, corporate, packaging and advertising communications.

His illustrations take on critical views; both light and heavy about life in the world around us and that deals with social, political, cultural issues and lifestyle subject matter.

He enjoys combining various everyday life objects, scenes and situations from life, memory and imagination and then combines and fuses them together to manufacture new and unexpected yet familiar meaning that ignites a spark to drive discussion and encourages people to be engaged to see, appreciate and learn something new everyday about the world around them. His work is strong conceptually, and is known for its graphic yet painterly qualities.

Ontario College of Art Alumni & Honourary Doctorate recipient, Officer of The Order of Canada and award winning illustrator artist, Anita Kunz organized this art exhibition and auction event in-conjunction with the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary and had received and collected over 100 pieces of artwork from various wonderful contributing illustrators and artists from around the world which were auctioned off. 

1 out of 80 plus contributing illustrator & designer artists invited by Anita Kunz to create artwork that will be auctioned off and donated to help raise money to feed and house previously distressed and/or abused monkeys at the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary located in Sunderland, Ontario, Canada.

One being entitled, Destiny to be in print on the walls as billboard art pieces within a selected London Underground subway station in London, England and the other being a framed portrait illustration of American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor, Prince Rogers Nelson entitled, Purple Rain Forever for two weeks time from June 20 to July 3, 2016.

A Private Viewing and launch evening to review all the selected pieces of artwork by all 25 artists aside from the pieces exhibited within the London Underground stations created will take place on June 28th, 2016 at the Tabernacle (Tabernacle art gallery), Notting Hill on 35 Powis Square, off Portobello Road, London W11 2AY. All 25 selected pieces of artwork on exhibition at the Tabernacle art gallery will be available for purchase.

Heralded as –The Taj Mahal of Kensington–, the Tabernacle was originally built as a church in 1887. Today the Tabernacle serves as a cultural arts and entertainment venue, including a theatre, meeting rooms, music studio, art gallery, bar and kitchen, conservatory and a garden courtyard.

Overview

Anson Liaw is an illustrator based in Toronto, Canada. Upon graduating from the Ontario College of Art from the Communication & Design Department Design Advertising Program in 1989, his versatile illustrations have been an integral part of many projects ranging from magazines, book publications, corporate, packaging and advertising communications.

His illustrations take on critical views; both light and heavy about life in the world around us and that deals with social, political, cultural issues and lifestyle subject matter.

He enjoys combining various everyday life objects, scenes and situations from life, memory and imagination and then combines and fuses them together to manufacture new and unexpected yet familiar meaning that ignites a spark to drive discussion and encourages people to be engaged to see, appreciate and learn something new everyday about the world around them. His work is strong conceptually, and is known for its graphic yet painterly qualities.

Ontario College of Art Alumni & Honourary Doctorate recipient, Officer of The Order of Canada and award winning illustrator artist, Anita Kunz organized this art exhibition and auction event in-conjunction with the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary and had received and collected over 100 pieces of artwork from various wonderful contributing illustrators and artists from around the world which were auctioned off. 

1 out of 80 plus contributing illustrator & designer artists invited by Anita Kunz to create artwork that will be auctioned off and donated to help raise money to feed and house previously distressed and/or abused monkeys at the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary located in Sunderland, Ontario, Canada.

1 framed illustration created and donated.

One being entitled, Destiny to be in print on the walls as billboard art pieces within a selected London Underground subway station in London, England and the other being a framed portrait illustration of American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor, Prince Rogers Nelson entitled, Purple Rain Forever for two weeks time from June 20 to July 3, 2016.

A Private Viewing and launch evening to review all the selected pieces of artwork by all 25 artists aside from the pieces exhibited within the London Underground stations created will take place on June 28th, 2016 at the Tabernacle (Tabernacle art gallery), Notting Hill on 35 Powis Square, off Portobello Road, London W11 2AY. All 25 selected pieces of artwork on exhibition at the Tabernacle art gallery will be available for purchase.

Heralded as –The Taj Mahal of Kensington–, the Tabernacle was originally built as a church in 1887. Today the Tabernacle serves as a cultural arts and entertainment venue, including a theatre, meeting rooms, music studio, art gallery, bar and kitchen, conservatory and a garden courtyard.
