Cliff Caines is a film and video artist based in Toronto, ON, Canada. He was born in Winnipeg, MB, and was raised in the remote northern gold mining community of Red Lake, ON. He is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design and received a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Concordia University where he attended the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. His films have exhibited in international festivals throughout Europe and the Americas; including Argentina, Canada, Denmark, FYR Macedonia, Germany, Lithuania, Portugal and the U.S. Caines’ work has received support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and the National Film Board of Canada. He currently teaches as a sessional instructor at OCAD University, and the Toronto School of Art.
