Frederick Burbach has thirty-plus years of experience in graphic design and strategic brand development.He has worked for clients in the United States, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

While in Switzerland, Burbach directed brand design projects for Swisscom, Swiss Bank Corporation, and the SIG Group at Wirz Identity, Deutsche Telekom, and BMW at Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux, and designed projects for EniChem, Balzers High Vacuum Technology, Contraves, and the Principality of Liechtenstein at Gottschalk + Ash Int–l.

As a design director at Genesis, Inc., in Denver, Colorado, he directed projects for PepsiAmericas, Diebold, and Steelcase. In 2002 Burbach founded his own agency with clients in North America and Europe.

Martin Bloch, who founded Bloch Guggenb–hl Associates in 1992, asked Burbach to become his partner, and Bloch Burbach Associates with offices in Zurich and Toronto was launched in 2008.

Burbach has lectured at Herman Miller, Indiana University, Kansas City Art Institute, AIGA Colorado, Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design, The University of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria, The Australian Graphic Design Association in Sydney, F+F School for Art and Media Design Zurich, Switzerland, the 2008 Dyson Awards in Zurich, and IGOGRADA, the International Council of Graphic Design Association's Conference on Education in London.

He has given seminars and taught graphic design, advertising, and brand development at the Art Center College of Design (Europe), Kansas City Art Institute, The Community College of Denver, and Western Michigan University. At the Ontario College of Art & Design, he teaches, graphic design, design history, typography, and advertising.


Frederick Burbach has a BFA from Indiana University in Bloomington, an MFA from The Basel School for Design, and in 2000 completed his marketing studies at the University of California.
