TORONTO WEARABLES MEETUP 25: LIBS ELLIOT AND GUILD EYEWEAR

This month our guest speakers were Elizabeth Elliot, textile designer, and Rod Fitzsimmons Frey, eyeglasses designer and maker.

Elizabeth Elliot’s father was always bringing home quilts.  He was an antique dealer, and helped foster her appreciation of old things, which she now finds comfort in.  It was no surprise, then, when her textile art turned to quilt making.  At first she began designing quilts using graph paper, but after being exposed to computational drawing methods in Processing, she worked with a friend to create a sketch that could randomly lay out patterns on a grid that she could then translate to a quilt design.  Elizabeth now makes and sells quilts and pillowcases created using generative design in Processing.  Her quilts are exquisite works of art, with bold patterns and bright colours, and made with great skill and care.
