OCAD U virtual convocation celebrates graduates and medal winners

OCAD University’s first virtual convocation took place on Friday, June 12, 2020, honouring its graduating students and medal winners.

COVID-19 emergency fund supports students in need

OCAD U students are being hit hard on many fronts during the COVID-19 pandemic, including financial hardship.

To meet this rising demand and provide short-term financial assistance, the University launched a fundraising campaign in early April for the COVID-19 Emergency Bursary Fund.

Recognizing Canada’s Black visual artists

In a climate of impassioned global protests against pervasive anti-Black racism, Canada is being forced to more fully confront its own legacy of systemic inequality that has marginalized generations of Black citizens. As we consider how to right this historic wrong, Dr. Andrea Fatona says one good place to start is by increasing the visibility of Black artists in Canada.

Onsite Gallery’s upcoming exhibition Fable for Tomorrow: A Survey of Works by Wendy Coburn, (tentatively scheduled to open October 7) is the first survey exhibition of work by the late Wendy Coburn (1963 - 2015). 

OCAD U ramps up communications during pandemic

Since early April, the University has been publishing stories about some of the outstanding contributions that students, staff and faculty have been making to respond to the current pandemic – from producing 3D printed protective face shields for a local hospital to cultivating creativity during COVID-19.

2020 Faculty and Staff Awards

OCAD U recently announced the 2020 Faculty and Staff Awards, celebrating the many achievements of all who contribute to the OCAD U community. While the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the university from holding its annual appreciation events for faculty and staff, colleagues were invited to view and acknowledge this year’s award recipients on the OCAD U website.
