Opening reception: Thursday, March 17 - 6 to 8pm
Artist Statement: Order, like all things, has an anti, which is the dismantling of itself through entropy, like shortcuts, desire lines and IKEA hacking. Using found materials such as industrial piping, plaster and plastics my work draws connections between the abstract and the factual. These seemingly mundane materials adopt new dispositions through a re-contextualization in the attempt at reversing the role of entropy. The separate pieces in this installation merge together to appear illogical but through their illogical representation become systematic. Half a Grapefruit is a Full Circle transforms found objects using vibrant colour and choreography that results in their new and heightened presence.
OCAD University's Sculpture/Installation Program is presenting a series of seventeen exhibitions featuring the multi-media artworks of its 4th-year Thesis students in professional galleries in Toronto. This series is made possible by the generous support of the Nora Vaughan Bequest to the Sculpture/Installation program and of the Faculty of Art Innovation Fund.
