The global digital media sector is one of the fastest-growing industries in the knowledge economy, with a current estimated valuation of US $2.2 trillion. The rapidly changing digital media sector poses new challenges to workers in the creative economy as technical skills must be updated constantly. This presentation will outline the digital skills gap and explore how the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto and the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver have developed successful continuing studies programs from a uniquely art and design perspective to meet the needs of the creative digital economy.
