OCAD U is keeping the lights on. For 24 hours on March 24, 2018, OCAD U is Bullfrog Powered with 100% green electricity in celebration of Earth Hour.

This means that Bullfrog Power's generators put 100% green power onto the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity the campus uses, displacing energy from polluting sources. Across Canada, Bullfrog's green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

What is OCAD U's impact?

Bullfrog Power is injecting 41.920 MWh of green electricity into the grid on behalf of OCAD U for Earth Day. This means that OCAD U is displacing 6.372 tonnes of CO2e.

Powering OCAD U with green electricity is equivalent to:
- displacing greenhouse gas emissions from 25,135 km driven by an average passenger vehicle.

- displacing CO2 emissions from 2,714 litres of gasoline consumed.

To determine more environmental equivalencies related to emissions reduction, you can go to the EPA's carbon equivalency calculator. You can plug 6.372 tonnes into the "CO2 - Carbon Dioxide or CO2 Equivalent" field to get some interesting comparisons
