Reception: October 13, 6-9 p.m.

Galaxy Champion Fun Zone™ is a two-person exhibition by Qendrim Hoti and Max Lupo which uses the video game technology of the past three decades to create an interactive installation. By using hacked and modified video games, Hoti and Lupo insert personal migrant histories into existing virtual worlds as a means to recontextualize their familiar contents. We invite visitors to play these games as a way to explore these alternate characters and environments.

About the Artists
Qendrim Hoti is a Kosovar Albanian interdisciplinary artist living in Canada. He uses his hybrid identity to help him negotiate material culture into artwork. Hoti graduated from the Interdisciplinary Arts, Media, and Design Masters Program at the Ontario College of Art and Design University in 2017. Qendrim's piece, made in collaboration with Esmaa Mohamoud, entitled 'One of the Boys' is currently on display at 'Every.Now.Then:Reframing Nationhood' at the Art Gallery of Ontario until December 10, 2017.

Max Lupo is an emerging artist who received his MFA from OCAD U in 2017. Over the course of his education Max focused on printmaking, and new media sculpture. These days, Max travels the world (not really) in order to bring the most exotic and fascinating inventions to life. Max's recent shows include solo exhibitions at Georgian College's Campus Gallery, as well as VERSO gallery, on Queen Street West in Toronto. Max currently works as an educator at Georgian College, and the Innisfil Public Library and Idealab.
