2014 IAMD Thesis Exhibition by Humboldt Magnussen

Please join the Interdisciplinary Master’s of Art, Media and Design Program and the Graduate Studies Department in celebrating the IAMD Thesis Exhibition of MFA candidate Humboldt Magnussen.

Join the artist on an epic hero’s journey as he completes a series of challenges to examine his family’s Viking roots and ask what it means to be strong. This interactive performance art piece relies on the audience to not only cheer, and encourage the artist but also become members of his band of Vikings and assist him through obstacles in order to prove he is in fact a real Viking.

Bio:Humboldt Magnussen is an emerging artist from Saskatchewan who is currently completing his Master’s of Fine Arts degree at OCAD University in the Interdisciplinary Art, Media, and Design Program. He completed his BFA with distinction at Concordia University, including a year abroad studying at the Malmo Art Academy in Sweden.

His exhibition history includes shows at the Hermitage Museum in Russia, the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, as well as Toronto’s Xpace Cultural Centre, where he currently works. He has performed as part of Regina's Queer City Cinema’s Performance Festival, Art Spin bicycle art tour, Art Now at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, and the 35th Rhubarb Festival.

Throughout spring and summer 2014 graduating candidates from OCAD University’s Interdisciplinary Master’s in Art, Media & Design (IAMD) program will present their thesis work in galleries across Toronto. These exhibitions explore a wide variety of interdisciplinary subject matter and media including, drawing & painting, video, performance, ceramics, printmaking, digital technology, sculpture and installation.
