With the initiation of the Creative City Campus renovations to the Fabrication Studios, DRPT Studios and roof work, OCAD U’s contractor Eastern Construction has mobilized on site.
Starting next week (May 21 to 24), hoarding will be constructed in the lobby of the main building to enclose the main area of work. Signage and hardware will be installed at other locations as required. Demolition will begin on Levels 1 and 4, and preparatory work will begin on the roof.
The contractor will exercise best efforts to minimize noise and disruption during the day; however there are some noisy processes that are unavoidable. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and power throughout the building is planned to remain operational through to the end of May. Further notice will be provided prior to any/all related systems being affected.
More information will be communicated next week regarding upcoming disruptions anticipated in June.
All parties involved in this project are committed to working together with the community towards clear and thorough communications. Members of the OCAD U community are encouraged to work with the team to constructively resolve issues by sending questions or concerns to creativecitycampus@ocadu.ca as soon as they arise. The Campus Planning and Projects Team will respond promptly.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation; we’re all looking forward to a great project!
