OCADUXYSM [Regent Park]: Elevation Through Creative Collaboration

29 Toronto Design students.

5 Muslim immigrant women.

How do they get together?

Skills, innovative thinking and the mutual goal to help alleviate the cycle of poverty.

Two Industrial Design classes at OCAD University have teamed up with Regent Park’s immigrant Creative Women’s Collective to fashion hip, saleable sewn designs, based on their eye for fashion and market appeal.

Over a period of three months, the Design students created and refined products, with feedback, expert insight and practicality from the group of women. The CWC will take over the designs and produce them for sale at stores and events.

The products and people will be in attendance at the exhibit: “OCADUXYSM [Regent Park]: Elevation Through Creative Collaboration”

The exhibit will open Thursday December 7 at 6:30 pm, and continues through December 8 from 10 am- 6pm, at the OCAD University Graduate Gallery, 205 Richmond St West, SE corner of Duncan St.
