As communicated in February 2019, the Creative City Campus (CCC) renovations taking place this summer include upgrades to the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems of the north end of 100 McCaul St.

These upgrades require the shut-down of the HVAC system that feeds a large area of space, loosely framed as the north half of the main building (Levels 1 through 4), i.e. north of the main lobby excluding the George Reid Wing (see map of affected areas). The shutdown is anticipated to begin Friday, May 31, 2019 and continue throughout the summer months, with the new system being online for the beginning of the fall term.

HVAC Temporary Measures
OCAD U’s Campus Planning and Projects Team has been working with stakeholders, including a large group of staff, on temporary measures, which include providing fans and, where best suited, portable AC units, and to create satellite locations for staff to work elsewhere on campus.

Beyond the HVAC work, the demolition phase of the renovations in the Fabrication (Level 1) and Drawing & Painting Studios (Level 4 south) continues to advance. While the contractor is implementing best efforts to minimize disruption, there will be unavoidable noise in areas adjacent to the work. The Projects Team is working with the contractor on the schedule so that impacted staff can be informed of expected disruptions.

The Projects Team extends its gratitude to all members of the OCAD U community for your patience and cooperation as we work through concerns. As always, you may contact the team at creativecitycampus@ocadu.ca with any questions or concerns.

The Campus Planning and Projects team is:
Andrea Hunniford, Manager, Campus Planning and Projects
Joanne Frisch, Director, Campus Planning and Projects
Nick Hooper, Director, Facilities and Studios
Sarah Mulholland, Manager, Student Communications and Campus Community
