Vernacular is a creative writing and publishing collective dedicated to poetry and other experimental approaches to language. We meet to share prompts and new works, and to develop our language-based practices. Curated works will be distributed through periodic publications, podcasts and events. By fostering a community of writers, speakers and signers, Vernacular provides a platform for creative linguistic agency and innovation. See this and other student-run groups at

Gingerbread House Competition

Thursday, December 4, 2008 - 5:00pm to 8:30pm

Teams of three (minimum) are invited to participate in this construction and decorating competition. Gingerbread kits and decorations will be provided while supplies last. First-come-first-served.

COST: Free, but each participant is asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Non-perishable food examples: canned milk or milk powder, canned tuna, Mac and cheese, canned stew, canned chili, canned pork and beans, canned vegetables, canned fruit cocktail, peanut butter, jelly, boxed sugar...

OCAD’s Welcome Back Corn Roast

September is finally here, and a great big welcome goes out to all of OCAD’s new and returning students, faculty and staff.

Come and enjoy a good ole fashioned corn roast with locally grown corn with all the topping from The Corn Cowboys, assorted cold salads, fresh watermelon and an iced cold beverage.

Bachelor of Education/Teacher Information Day

The 2008 event will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 10:00 to 3:30 in the Auditorium, Room 190, in the main building at 100 McCaul Street.

It is never too early or too late to plan, so all students are welcome. Third- and fourth-year students with an interest in teaching are strongly encouraged to attend.
