Calling all animators!

Join us for a presentation by Mariam Zaidi, Managing Director of Toronto Animated Image Society to learn more about their residency programs, membership and Anijam call for submissions.

The Toronto Animated Image Society - TAIS’s Anijam call features 10-second-long animated films submitted under a theme, which are compiled and screened at the TAIS Annual Animation Showcase.

The Showcase Jury’s pick for Best Anijam will be awarded a cash prize and in-kind studio use toward production of a short-animated project for presentation at TAIS Showcase in 2020. The 2019 Anijam is High Tension. Artists are invited to submit 10-second-long mash-up masterpieces, creative never-before-seen combos, or unique universes populated by well-known characters.

ABOUT THE OCAD U CENTRE FOR EMERGING ARTISTS & DESIGNERS (CEAD)

DPXA Students to Screen Animation with Live Orchestra

DPXA Students to Screen Animation with Live Orchestra

Earlier this semester, OCAD University's Experiential Learning Program partnered with the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra on a project to create a series of animations that will accompany the live performance of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Led by Tommy Truong (DPXA Alumni) and animated by a group of talented Digital Painting Expanded Animation students, this final animation will be screened with a live orchestra at the Living Arts Centre as part of their season finale performance.

Does a 2-month paid summer internship in a world famous visual effects studio interest you?

Attend this OCAD U information session on March 14th at 10:30 am to learn more about the Framestore Launchpad Internship program.

A Framestore FX artist and Recruitment Manager will be in attendance. Learn about how to apply for a job at Framestore and bring you questions for the Q&A session!

The Launchpad Internship will:

  • grant you the chance to work on movies currently in production as well a supervised personal project
  • pair you with a mentor who will advise you throughout the experience
  • help you learn more about the VFX industry and create extraordinary images

The Launchpad Internship runs from July 1st to August 23rd, 2019 in the Framestore Montreal Studio.

Open to all DPXA and IMXA students.

This is the first of three workshops with Toronto-based animator and filmmaker Lillian Chan. 

Lillian will be giving a talk about working in the animation industry and her interdisciplinary illustration and art work, followed by a screening and discussion with students. This workshop will also involve a special open critique session for OCAD DPXA Students working on a collaborative animation project with the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (TYWO). Parts 2 and 3 of this workshop series will continue in the Winter 2019 term, with further insights on the animation industry and how to get your work out there.

About the TYWO – DPXA collaboration:

OCAD University has joined forces with the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra to create an animation set to the music of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. This piece features animated shorts produced by OCAD U animation students and will be publicly presented with a live music performance at Mississauga's Living Arts Centre in May 2019.
