Liquid Time

By: Krysztof Kowolik

Opening Taking place March 15th, 2018 from 6-8pm

Show is running from March 13th-24th

Krysztof Kowolik is a sculptor and installation Artist who has had a life long love of and fascination with the special effects created in film. These artforms have had a huge impact on the content and mediums that he uses in his art practice. Liquid Time began as works titled Spill Series, they are a love letter to the practical special effects employed by Artist and craftspeople working in Hollywood.

Krysztof’s striking images began with a piece of glass and a black curtain to set the stage for an alchemical dance between two formless bodies. Materials collide and envelop one another in a push and pull performance that mimics shifts seen and experienced throughout our own deep dark universe. Like the pioneer Artists of old the techniques of producing original film stock was developed through the mixing and interaction of chemicals and compounds of different densities to produce moving images and film stills depicting dynamic imagery. Liquid Time is the result of old techniques finding new life to produce moving images through the use of chemicals and natural materials to mimic a landscape and reality that are ambiguous and can be interpreted as a macro view of the universe or a micro one.
