The Senate is responsible for the establishment and regulation of academic policy, standards, and procedures at OCAD University. In particular, the Senate and its many committees are in charge of all matters pertaining to OCAD University’s academic resources, academic programming, academic strategic planning, student affairs, and any other such matters relating to academic issues.

Membership of Senate consists predominantly of senior faculty but also includes undergraduate and graduate student representation as well as a representation of the academic administration.

The Senate normally meets on the fourth week of every month during the academic year.

Faculty Lunchbox: Juggling Responsibilities, Managing Priorities

This Faculty Lunchbox will feature an OCAD U faculty panel consisting of Lynne Heller, Claudette Lauzon & Nicole Collins discussing their approaches to time management, when to say yes and when to say no and how to remain productive in the face of competing deadlines and a shifting educational landscape.

There will be ample time for participants to make inquiries and contribute their own strategies for the betterment of the group. Participants are welcome to drop-in briefly or attend the entire session. Registration is strongly encouraged.

A meeting of OCAD University's Board of Governors

In its meetings the Board establishes policy and institutional priorities for the university. It makes major operating decisions and receives reports from the President; Vice-President, Academic; Vice-President, Development & Alumni Relations and President, OCAD University Foundation, Vice-President, Finance & Administration; Associate Vice-President, Research & Graduate Studies; Associate Vice-President, University Relations; the Senate; Chairs of standing and ad hoc committees; and representatives of academic and administrative areas at the university, as needed. Standing committees of the Board include the Executive, Finance, Human Resources, and Advancement Committees. Sub-committees of the Board include the Senate Liaison Sub-Committee of the Executive Committee, and the Audit & Risk Management Sub-Committee, and the Physical Resources & Capital Assets Sub-Committee of the Finance Committee. Ad hoc committees and task forces are established from time to time as required.
