The OCAD Artist Alley is a student initiative, in collaboration with OCAD U Campus Life and O-Days! 2018, to give students and alumni across all programs the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.
The OCAD U (online) Store will be on campus as part of O-DAYS! 2018.
Visit their tables during the morning Service Expo (Tuesday, September 4 per BIG-Day! orientation email sent to new students on August 23) and in the main lobby on the first day of classes (Wednesday, September 5).
Get your gear early for maximum selection and the best pricing. We’ll have our store staff on-site to answer any questions, help you find an item, or just say hi! Make sure to bring either debit or credit; our table will be cashless this year. Be sure to stop by and check things out!
O-DAYS!—OCAD University orientation—welcomes new and first-year undergraduate students to the university each year. A number of department- and group-specific activities will be planned August 27 to 31, culminating in BIG-Day! (Tuesday, September 4) immediatly following Labour Day, when nearly 1,000 new and first-year undergraduate students will descend upon campus to kick off the academic year:
New undergrad students should watch their (personal/non-OCAD U) email August 23, 2018 for detailed instructions and team assignment for BIG-Day!
As part of O-DAYS! 2018, this activity is designed as an informal social opportunity to connect those new undergrads who may wish meet and connect with others in advance of the Labour Day weekend and BIG-Day! (Tuesday, September 4). This activity is hosted by Student Mentor Program. All new first-year undergrads are welcome! Special guest and inspirational speaker Andy Thibodeau will enlighten and entertain!
As part of O-DAYS! 2018, new students are invited to join curator Patricio Dávila for an exhibition tour! Diagrams of Power showcases art and design works using data, diagrams, maps and visualizations as ways of challenging dominant narratives and supporting the resilience of marginalized communities.
A re-organization of your time, energy and resources is an important part of the transition to OCAD University.
In this free workshop, as part of O-DAYS! 2018, we will discuss strategies and tips on how to organize your time, set realistic goals and gain insight into your personal work style. We will engage in hands-on activities that will assist you in setting priorities, developing a schedule and managing your stress for the years ahead. Participants should bring their course schedules and any day-timers or calendars they currently use.
As part of O-DAYS! 2018, this free workshop offers hands-on exercises that will give you the opportunity to build essential tools for success in both your liberal studies and studio courses. We will look at critical reading, taking lecture notes and introduction to critique.
Tuesday, September 4, 2018 - 9:00am to Friday, September 14, 2018 - 4:00pm
The annual face2face: postcard exhibition, as part of O-DAYS! (OCAD University orientation) is a new student's opportunity to participate in their first on-campus undergraduate exhibition and to introduce themself to the OCAD U community.
Students create a self-portrait postcard to show us who they are. It could be a literal likeness or a metaphorical representation!
Whether it be drawing, painting, collage or photography, traditional or digital, students are encouraged to have fun and play around with the idea of self-image and how they would like to be seen.
