Anxiety Drop-In Group

Friday, October 23, 2015 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

The Health and Wellness Centre has launched a new experiential group for students who are experiencing feelings of anxiety, and worry that are interfering with their lives.

In this group, students are able to learn more about anxiety, connect with peers and enjoy snacks in a supportive and non-judgmental setting. This group is open to all students on a drop-in basis and starts each Friday at noon - no registration is required!

NORMAN THE THERAPY DOG VISITS OCAD U

Students busy with exams, end-of-term projects and critiques de-stressed with a special visit by registered therapy dog Norman on Wednesday, April 9. Norman and his handler, OCAD U photography student Shannon Dobson, were on campus as part of an OCAD U Health and Wellness Centre initiative, and plan to come back in September.

“I knew Norman could help bring some smiles to students and faculty,” said Dobson. “It was a great experience. Faces immediately lit up when they saw him.”  

Norman is an Old English Sheepdog and weighs 100 pounds. He participates in a program run by Therapy Tails, a non-profit, volunteer-run dog therapy program that works to help make lives better across Ontario. He also has his own children’s book, written by Dobson and illustrated by OCAD U student Nicole Clarizio.

Fariah Medina, who works at the OCAD U Health and Wellness Centre, says plans for fall visits to campus with Norman and other Therapy Tails dogs may also include a puppy room.

Norman’s visit attracted a great deal of attention among OCAD U students on Twitter and Facebook.
