Dennis has more than 25 years of design, advertising, and marketing experience. His areas of expertise include corporate identity, branding, print, packaging, environmental design, on-line, OOH, radio, signage & wayfinding, retail fixture and store design.

Oz John Tekson, PhD

A former art director in advertising, worked at Bozell Worldwide, Euro RSCG, Publicis, and The Coca-Cola Company. An academic with a master's degree in Advertising and a PhD in Visual Communication. 18 years experience in teaching in three universities and three colleges, as a part-time and a full-time faculty. Taught Typography, Creative Concepts, Event Marketing, Experiential Marketing, Promotion, Packaging Design, Visual Semiotics, Layout & Digital Production, and Photography.

Recently running his own company OZ JOHN Photography and Creative Services, as well as, teaching.


Steve Quinlan began teaching at the Ontario College of Art (as it was then known) in 1978 in the then Communication & Design Department. Prior to coming to the College he worked for Paul Arthur and Associates (pictographic and wayfinding), IMS (UofT), Dizitti and Associates (architect) and Mimura and Associates (animation). He also exhibited at the Prince Arthur Galleries, Gallery O and the Arts and Letters Club.


Principal of Keith J. Rushton and Associates and Principal, Executive Vice-president, Fincomm Communications Inc., Keith Rushton is a graphic designer; typographic designer; artist; writer and educator. His previous positions have included: Manager, Advertising/Public Relations, Canada Life Assurance Company; President, Rushton Green and Grossutti Inc.; Chair, Alliance of Ontario Universities; and Co-Chair, Communication & Design department, OCAD. Keith Rushton and his associates have won gold, silver and bronze awards nationally and internationally.

Karin Von ompteda

Karin von Ompteda is a designer/researcher/educator working in areas where disciplines converge. Her background is in both science and design, having undertaken an MSc Biology, BDes Graphic Design, and currently completing a PhD Visual Communication. Karin's doctoral research is focused on integrating scientific and design approaches to typeface legibility, with a particular interest in low vision readers. Working with data plays a central role in her research, practice, and teaching.

Gary Ludwig

Gary has held creative and strategic leadership roles with some of the most notable Canadian and international branding firms: SFP, FutureBrand, Gottschalk+Ash International, and Interbrand. He is currently a founder and principal of Hark Ideas Ltd. Bridging the gap between brand strategy and brand identity, he has a keenly developed understanding of the intimate, intricate, critical interrelationship of ideas and how they are expressed. 

Dominic Ayre

Having been schooled in England, and after a short initiation into the world of offset printing, Dominic moved back to Canada and has worked as a designer in Toronto since 1993. The experience he brings from the various studios he has worked in include all aspects of the design process. Since joining Hambly & Woolley, Dominic has been involved in the design and development of projects for the ROM, Harry Rosen, Ontario College of Art & Design, Montgomery Sisam Architects, Progress Packaging and McKinsey & Co.

Derwyn Goodall

Derwyn is an accredited Creative Director and Graphic Designer (RGD) with over 30 years of high-profile corporate design and branding experience. Areas of expertise include strategic, conceptual, and design development for brand identity programs, websites, print and packaging for a diverse range of clients in many market sectors.


Debbie Adams, AOCA, RGD, RCA, SEGD, was born in Burnaby, BC. She attended the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, graduating with honours in 1983 and was awarded the medal for top student in the Communications and Design Department.

David Wilson

Born in Toronto, David began to study graphic design in high-school, and continued his studies in design and painting at Sheridan College. He then apprenticed for several years in a traditional graphic design and communications studio in Toronto.

With over 30 years of experience as a graphic designer, and art director he has worked on a wide range of projects in an equally wide range of disciplines.
