SSHRC and OGS Workshop

SSHRC and OGS Workshop for Graduate Students, and students applying to Graduate Studies at OCAD U for 2014.

Please be advised that an information session on SSHRC and OGS awards is scheduled for Monday, October 7, 3:00 – 4:30 pm in room 7401, 4th floor of 205 Richmond Street West.

You are encouraged to attend and if eligible, to apply for these funding opportunities and are going into your second year of your graduate program or considering applying to Graduate Studies at OCAD U for 2014.

• Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)
The Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships Program of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) seeks to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students in the social sciences and humanities who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies. These scholarships are valued at $17,500 over 12 months (non-renewable) and are open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents only.

OCAD U has a limited allocation of applications that we may submit to SSHRC. Details will be provided at the information session, including application deadlines.

• Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS)
The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) program encourages excellence in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels. The scholarship is valued at $5,000 per academic term for either two or three consecutive terms.
OCAD U has a limited allocation of applications that we may submit to OGS – one of which may be allocated to an international student.

Grant Writing Workshop for Graduate Students with Dr. Lynne Milgram

We encourage all students applying for SSHRC and OGS Awards to attend. Dr. Milgram has requested that all students bring with them a written Draft of their Research Proposal as this will be an interactive writing workshop.

Dr. Lynne Milgram is a professor of anthropology, liberal arts and sciences, here at OCAD U. Her research on gender development and globalization in the Philippines analyzes the cultural politics of social change in women’s informal sector work. She has been the ongoing recipient of SSHRC support through grants since undertaking her graduate study.
