Kresen Thewani & Kevin Yue win Epson P800, 17” wide printers!

Thanks to the generosity of Epson Canada and our supportive local representative Andrew Patrick, OCAD U’s Photography Program is pleased to announce that 2 Epson P800, 17” wide printers have been awarded to:

Kresen Thewani, Photography Thesis

Kevin Yue, Photography Directed Studio

This award was arranged and coordinated by Barbara Astman in the Photography Program and juried along with Peter Sramek. Selection was made from fourteen applicants from the Thesis and Directed Studio courses.

Fourth-year Illustration student Eryn Lougheed has completed a mural in 230 Richmond St. W. for the second annual Hullmark Stairwell Mural Career Launcher.

LandMarks2017/Repères2017 was a Canada 150 Signature Project of large-scale, participation-oriented art and activities of national scope. To commemorate the project, Partners in Art (PIA) has collaborated with Magenta Publishing to create a limited-edition book for members, sponsors, and participating artists that may also be accessed online.

Students and alumni from OCADU’s Illustration and Sculpture & Installation programs were among award winners at the 2018 Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF) in Nathan Philips Square in July. 
The Saul Bell Design Award for Emerging Artist 22 years or younger was won by a Material Art & Design student at OCAD U.
Communication Arts column features Faculty of Design Dean, Dr. Dori Tunstall
In a feature titled Respectful Design, Dr. Dori Tunstall, OCAD University’s Dean of the Faculty of Design, discusses her work in decolonizing the design curriculum at OCAD U. Dean Tunstall describes the positive reactions she receives at international presentations where she explains how the university is using Respectful Design. The full profile is available online.    
OCAD University congratulates prominent graphic designer and artist Burton Kramer on being named a Member of the Order of Canada. An icon of graphic design in Canada, Kramer’s career has spanned more than 50 years. Having taught at OCAD U for 21 years, Kramer has helped develop future generations of Canadian designers. He has won many prestigious awards worldwide and in 2003, was one of the first recipients of an honorary doctorate from OCAD U.

The Ontario Arts Council's 2018 Indigenous Arts Award winner Nadya Kwandibens selected OCAD U alumna and staff member Melissa General to receive an emerging leadership award.
