OCADU Industrial Design Students Awarded at ACIDO Rocket Awards 2017

Each year the Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario (ACIDO) hosts "Rocket" -a competition for Ontario's graduating industrial designers. 

Graduates nominated at the top of their class from OCAD University, Carleton University, and Humber College have the opportunity to pitch their thesis projects and compete for top awards. 

This year, OCADU Students represented 7 of 25 shortlisted student works and Richard Revie and Samantha Vanveen went home with three awards!
 

Primo – 2 ACIDO rocket category awards one for sports & recreation

“Primo provides a product, service, and social platforms to guide beginners through the challenges harnessing their behavior in a constructive pathway to optimize their success and safety.”

Richard Revie was supervised by ID faculty members Jules Goss and David Quan.

1 Category award in Health & Wellness

Samantha Vanveen supervised by ID faculty members Job Rutgers and Ranee Lee

“Approximately twenty-five percent of North America’s population experiences incontinence, whether it’s a temporary or ongoing problem. Since the majority of these people are women, the goal is to provide a sustainable solution that allows the user to go about their day without the stress existing disposable products impart.”

Design Exchange and Disney invite students studying at OCAD University to participate in a design competition to win a chance to collaborate with Disney at EDIT this fall.

Longtime MPP Monte Kwinter will not be seeking re-election in York Centre next June. At 86, Kwinter has the distinction of being the oldest MPP in Ontario history.

Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition
OCAD University students and alumni participated as exhibiting artists in the 2017 Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition (TOAE).

The City of Toronto has announced that artist and OCAD U instructor Tannis Nielsen has been chosen to create artwork in the underpass for Lower Simcoe Street between Station Street and Bremner Boulevard.
This Art Works! launch event
OCAD University celebrated the launch of This Art Works! along with Madeleine Co. and CBC at the Gardiner Museum on July 13.  A new digital CBC series, This Art Works! airing on the CBC Arts online platform, profiles many OCAD U students and recent alumni whose work deals with art and social change.

OCAD U congratulates Sergej Mileski, winner of Angelo Donghia Foundation Scholarship For the second year in a row, an OCAD U Environmental Design student, Sergej Mileski, has been selected for the prestigious New York-based Angelo Donghia Foundation Scholarship.
