Raquel Da Silva Announced as Recipient of 2019 Sky Lounge Career Launcher

Great West Life Realty Advisors, Oni One Sourcing and Purchasing and the Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers are excited to announce Raquel Da Silva as the Recipient of the 2019 Sky Lounge Art Commission Career Launcher.

For this commission, Raquel created a large-scale wall mounted art piece at 8’ x 12’ that is hung in the two-story amenity sky lounge of the Livmore, a upscale rental building in downtown Toronto. The building has been impeccably designed with an understated refined elegance making it the perfect backdrop for energetic and contemporary art. Raquel's work will share the space in a building with existing art by Canadian artists.

As a Career Launcher recipient, Raquel received a production budget and artist fee of $13,000. Additionally, Raquel will have her production and artwork documented by professional photo and videographers provided by the partner. The documentation will accompany the commissioned artwork during an opening reception in March/ April 2019.

Raquel was also recently listed by BlogTo in their “Ten up and coming Toronto Artists you should know". list.

As part of the Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers, the Career Development office supports the professional development of emerging OCAD U creative talent. The Career Launchers program offers unique, high-profile opportunities developed in partnership with industry leaders in order to help senior students and new graduates start their professional practice after school.
